GRADE 6 INFORMATION MEETING AT DRS:  The administration team at Don Ross Secondary School has already commenced planning for our 2015-16 school year.  A key component of their planning process is to accommodate the transition of Grade 6 students from feeder schools in to their Grade 7 year at DRSS.

The transition from elementary school to high school can be a very exciting as well as anxious time for students.  Providing future students and their parents with important information about DRS is an integral part of the transition process.  School counselor, Mr. Thomson, along with several DRSS students have been visiting Grade 6 classes at elementary schools to share with them what they might expect in middle school.

DRS will be hosting an information session for parents of Grade 6 students on the following evenings:

Wednesday, March 11th at 7:00pm for families residing in Mamquam, Garibaldi Highlands, and Brackendale

Wednesday, April 15th at 7:00pm for families residing in Squamish, Stawamus, and Valleycliffe

Please note that the information content will be the same for both sessions and students will be welcome to attend.  Individuals who cannot attend the session for their catchment area are welcome to attend the other session.

The information session will focus on what Grade 7 will look like in a Grade 7,8,9 middle school model including class configurations, course curriculum, school time table, and more.  Students and parents will also have an opportunity to walk about our school and ask questions to administrative staff and Grade 9 Leadership students who will be on hand for the evening.

Please contact me by phone at 604-898-3671 ext. 123 or email  at npascuzzi@sd48.bc.ca  if you have any questions or concerns regarding the information outlined above.
