Reporting Absence
Attendance Information
It is very important that students attend school each day and arrive at school on time. However, please do not send your child to school if he or she is ill. Regular attendance is vital to academic success.
Late Arrivals
Children who arrive late must report to the office so that we can record them as present. Teachers may require students who are late to make up time after school, at noon or at recess. Repeated tardiness or unexplained absences will be referred to the school office.
Reporting Absences
This programme ensures that the parents and school know the whereabouts of each child, and provides the earliest possible alert in the event of a missing child.
Parents are asked to notify the school (898-3651 local 300) if their child is going to be absent or sick. Messages can be left night or day. Alternatively, a note can be sent in advance to the child’s teacher if you know that the child will be away for an appointment or for other reasons. If your child is absent when teachers check attendance at 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM and the school has not been informed of the child’s absence, then the school will make a phone call home.
If your child arrives to school late then they must report to the office before going to their classroom. This lets the office know not to phone home on a marked absence when the student has arrived late.
When Children are Ill
Our policy is to send those students who become ill or injured during the day home as soon as possible. Our practice is to call parents and to ask that the student be picked up. For this reason, it is important that parents keep work and emergency phone numbers updated in our office files.
Medication for Students
On occasion we have been asked by parents to ensure their child receives prescribed medication. Please be aware that in order to do so, we require the completion of the “Request for Administration of Medication at School” form which must be signed by the prescribing doctor. The form may be obtained at the school office or by clicking here.
