Highlights this week: Ms. Saenger’s welcome message with some tips about getting a good night sleep; our first days of school in pictures, an announcement for the parent/guardian In The Know session: "Beyond Behaviours: When Is It More? National Day for Truth and Reconciliation - Thursday, September 30th, 2021

Highlights this week: Ms. Saenger’s summer message; National Indigenous Peoples’ Day memories; Mrs. Hackett slides into retirement; student supplies information; tick sense; the 2021-2022 school calendar and important dates; Library notes and some last minute messages from your PAC. Our feature photo this week is Sydney and Mikayla's great white shark.

The song 100 Years was written and performed by the band Five For Fighting (actually, he is a solo artist named John Ondrasik).

Our class created a video around the idea that our lives have three stages: beginning, middle, late. The class movie shows pictures from the students' very young years (so cute!) and scenes of them around the school this year. Imbedded in the school photographs are clues as to some of the topics that we studied this year (ie. racism, goal setting, skeletal system...hockey!). A consistent theme throughout the movie is that everyone should have a passion, and they should set goals to help them achieve their dreams. As one grade 6 student reflected: “I learned that my skills are not static, anything can be improved."

Highlights this week: Don’t miss the BRE Library Spring Virtual Book Fair – it ends Monday, May 31st. Prepare for those summer barbeques with some purchases from Neufeld Farms (in support of the Outdoor Classroom project) – order deadline has been extended to May 29th. Is your bike ready for Bike to School Week May 31 – June 6? Celebrate World Ocean Day on June 8th with a litter-less lunch. Symptoms of seasonal allergies and COVID19 can be similar, check our Health and Safety Highlight for more information. Congratulations to our new PAC Executive elected at the May 26 PAC Meeting. Our feature photo this week is a beautiful mandala in the forest created by grade 1 and 2 students.

Highlights this week: Our Walk Your Wheels safety campaign is in high gear! Check out the posters and video; some highlights of our Artist-In-Residence, Art Harry, working with our students; join in the ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge; the BRE Library is hosting a Spring Virtual Book Fair – take some time to browse the fair (orders placed of $40 or more placed anytime, and all orders placed between 6 and 8pm on Wednesday, May 26 qualify for free shipping to your home!); prepare for those summer bar’b’ques with some purchases from Neufeld Farms (in support of the Outdoor Classroom project). Have a very happy long weekend. Our feature photo this week is a reminder to 'pack it in and pack it out'.

Highlights this week: Mr. Hirn’s class designed and made planters using geometry and form lessons from Math; several of our students won prizes in the Royal Canadian Legion Remembrance Day contest; the Brackendale Library is hosting a virtual book fair from May 17 – 31; School District #48 is looking for host families for the International Student Program; and there is a plethora of ways you can support Brackendale Elementary PAC and the new Outdoor Classroom and Play Area project. Our feature photo this week is one of the wonderful posters created to highlight our Walk Your Wheels campaign.

Our feature photo this week: we are lifting the spirits of our "Super Hero" Critical Care Health Care Workers at St. Paul's Hospital and Lions Gate Hospital with water colour paintings, cards and letters.
