Highlights this week: Daylight savings time starts Sunday at 2am; our amazing new Outdoor Classroom and Nature Play Area plans; health and safety highlight of the week is mental wellness in the BC Curriculum – enjoy Mrs. Fanzega’s students’ exploration of what makes them happy; next Thursday is Black and White Day in support of the Rare Disease Foundation; Grade 6 parents are invited to attend a virtual parent information session for the Learning Expeditions program on Tuesday, March 16th; our PAC is sponsoring a Pizza Day in April and the next PAC Meeting is Wednesday, March 17th by Zoom.

The Ministry of Education, BCCDC, and VCH announced that some aspects of the provincial safety guidelines for K to 12 schools have been adjusted. Schools have updated their COVID-19 Exposure Control Plans to reflect the enhanced measures. Thank you to our School Health and Safety Committee for your vital overview of this key document. I also appreciate the diligence of our staff, students, families, and community members in adhering to the safety measures.

This year marks the 14th International Pink Shirt Day.

Pink Shirt Day started in 2007, when two Grade 12 students — David Shepherd and Travis Price of Nova Scotia — saw a Grade 9 student getting bullied for wearing pink. They brought a bunch of pink shirts to school and distributed them to other willing boys who donned them for the day in solidarity.

This year Ms. Moo (Julie Murakami), our wonderful music teacher, taught all of our classes 'body percussion' to "Treat People With Kindness" by Harry Styles. She then put together this video montage of their performances as well as other expressions of kindness seen around the school. Be kind ... just because.
